Athirapilly is the land of rivers and forests and great waterfalls ! The destination houses the largest waterfall in Kerala,the Athirapilly waterfall,is a major tourist attraction in Kerala.Athirapilly in Kerala is famous for its waterfalls.Kerala tour packages to Athirapilly waterfalls ,which is one of the largest in Kerala,is very popular among tourists.It is located in Trissur district of Kerala.Water flowing through the Chalakkudy river takes a 80 feet plunge at Athirapilly,making it a major tourist attraction in Kerala.The sound of water cascading down rocks and the milk white appearance when water splashes downwards is a dazzling sight.The waterfalls itself located in a place of scenic natural beauty.Behind the waterfalls it is possible to see the mountains coverded with thick dense forests.The waterfalls its self can be seen from many different locations.There are special pathways which take people very close to the spot where the water is falling.Even before reaching  the spot one can feel tiny droplets of waterfalling from the splashing waterfalls.The best time to see the waterfalls are during the rainy season between june and november.During this period the river will be full of water and waterfall appears splendid.During the dry season the amount water in the river will be less and the waterfall during this period becomes very narrow.    There is plenty of wildlife in the forests around Athirapally and it is also one of the most biodiverse regions in Kerala. The closest airport is Kochi airport which is 55km away. The nearest railway station is Chalakudy which is 19km away. There is an entry fee of Rs15. per person to see the waterfalls and the timing is from 8:00a.m to 6:00p.m.

Attractions and Places to Visit

Chapra Falls

This waterfall is located very close to Athirapally falls. Although this waterfall is smaller in size the place is located in a scenic location. This waterfall can be reached by travelling further ahead after Athirapally. This waterfall can be seen from the road itself. No entry fee is required.

Vazhachal

Moving 5km. further ahead it is possible to reach Vazhachal. Here we can see water rushing down rocks.  There is also a small park, where different species of trees can be seen.  The botanical names of these trees are mentioned on the trees. Entry ticket to Vazhachal is included with entry ticket to Athirapally.
