Overview

Situated on the foothills of Chamundi Hills, Mysore is famous for its favourable climate, silk and architectural wonders. The city was the capital of the erstwhile state of Mysore and some of its past grandeur is reflected in its buildings and outlay. It is also famous for its Dassera celebrations. Places of interest are, the famous Brindavan Gardens, Mysore Palace, Karanki Lake, Mysore Zoo, Krishna Raja Sagara, Chamundeshwari Temple, Jaganmohan Palace, Lalitha Mahal and Railway Museum Mysore. Some of the well known hotels are, Mysore Mayflower Hotel, Hotal Regaalis and Ginger Hotel, while three good restaurants are, Sapphire, Vinayaka Mylari, Malgudi Cafe and Cafe Armane. Mysore is connected by air and rail, the nearest airport is Bangalore Airport, a number of trains, including super luxury fast Shatabdi Express connects Mysore to the rest of the country, and well connected network of roads makes it easy to travel to Mysore from other cities in the country.
