Overview

Kozhikode or Calicut ,is a city in the state of Kerala in southern India on the Malabar coast.The city lies about 380 kilometers north of the state capital Tiruvanandhapuram.It was a significant spice trade center and is also close to Kappad beach,where portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama landed in 1498.

The cetral Kozhikode beach,overlooked by an old light house,is a popular spot to waching the sunset.Inland,three-lined Mananchira square,with its musical fountain,surrorunds massive Mananchira Tank,an artificial pound.During the time Zamorin dynasty,it was the capital and at present,it is one of the most important ponits of commerce and trade.The city has numbers of things to lure people from all around the world.

There are some incredible places such as Kappad beach,Thusharagiri waterfalls and Beypore forest as well as Kadalundi Birds Sanctuary.The town is quite popular amongst the adventures lovers.Here you will also find over a 100 spices of birds as well as spice plantations and dense evergreen forests.
